Lyz Moore

November 29, 2005 at 1:48 am (Uncategorized)

Recently our Jewish Outreach has taken to attacking me on her blog. The truth of the matter is, is that she is a treacherous being. Currently she is remaining cordial to Dan Carlson while at the same time making the case for why he cannot be the Chairman to CRs and to people with state party. She claims that Dan offered her one of the Vice Chair positions and that “another slate”, has also offered her a position.

To me this is baffling. Lyz Moore got her precious Jewish Outreach position from Dan. He gave a relative unknown in the MFCRs a statewide appointment. Now, by nature she is inclined to axe him in the back. Constantly bragging about how she can get away with this, and that no one suspects a thing.

By her own admission this is a stepping stone to Chair. In itself that is not a bad thing, but stepping on people to step up is.

Whoever takes her on board would be wise to marginalize her to keep her raw back stabbing ambition in check.

Carlson relative “Chair” at SVSU?
When this was disputed earlier this year, was the “SVSU Chair” actually Chair or just a Carlson relative that he knew would fill the spot to support him.

Teenage Republicans Announce Support for Zandstra
Teenagers cite MCRI, Economy for Endorsement

LANSING, Mich. – Teenage Republican chairmen from Allegan, Kent and Oakland counties announced support for US Senate candidate Jerry Zandstra. The Teenage Republicans provide the GOP with volunteers on Michigan campaigns.

The conservative activists cite the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative and Zandstra’s economic policies as reasons for support. Wayland High School Senior, Kurt Fifelski, states that “Jerry Zandstra best represents the issues that teenagers care about.”

“As a high school student, MCRI is a very important issue to me. I encourage all Michigan students to support Jerry Zandstra for US Senate,” Fifelski states. Currently, Jerry Zandstra is the only Republican US Senate candidate that supports the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative.

Tyler Whitney, chairman of the Michigan Federation of Teenage Republicans, praised the Teenage Republicans for endorsing Zandstra. Whitney stated that “The Teenage Republicans will provide the Zandstra campaign with an energetic and enthusiastic group of volunteers.”

Whitney states that he expects more Teenage Republicans to endorse Zandstra in the coming months.

Today Dan Carlson has announced that Lansing Community College is not a chartered school. Everyone knows that Rob Walter chartered the schools CRs group when Jason Miller was Chairman. Now Walter is in Iraq and the fat cat Carlson is saying that his charter never existed even though their is official minutes in which someone from the school voted.

Instead of gracefully fading away in CRs like most grad students do, Carlson is determined to have an iron grip on an organization of students in which he is nearly the oldest member.

Carlson; Doucha Bagga

November 17, 2005 at 9:52 pm (Uncategorized)

A letter from Dan Carlson…my response will be soon.

College Republicans are traditionally the foot soldiers of the Republican Party. They do the door to door, the rallies, the grunt work, and the daily trenchwarfare on our campuses. With the 2006 campaigns drawing near, I think that itis important for us to have strong, proven leadership in the Michigan Federationof College Republicans. We need leaders with campaign experience. We needleaders who can turn out the College Republicans to work for campaigns. Weneed leaders who can make Michigan a leader in the College Republican NationalCommittee. Most importantly, we need leaders with all of these qualities whoshare our conservative values.I believe that I am that leader. I have served at every level of the CollegeRepublican organization. I started the Kalamazoo College Republicans, servedas Co-Chair of the Michigan Federation of College Republicans, and mostrecently, served as Chairman. I also was a College Coordinator for the BushCampaign, ran the volunteer efforts for the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative, and helped run Susan Brown?s campaign for UM Regent. I have the experiencenecessary to lead this organization in 2006.I have a proven track record with the College Republicans. Under my leadership,we have grown from under twenty clubs to over thirty, and soon we will havealmost forty clubs statewide! For the Mackinac Conference, I ran a programcalled, ?No Republican Left Behind.? In this program, I talked to variouscampaigns and College Republican chapters across the state almost daily to getvolunteers to Mackinac. The program was a resounding success by any measure. We shattered the record for the number of College Republicans at the island!I also have a plan for making Michigan once again a leader in the CollegeRepublican National Committee. As you?ve probably seen in the news, the CRNChas had its share of scandals over the last year or two. First, they wereaccused of defrauding the elderly with their fundraising. This past summer, the New Republic wrote a story on the large amount of corruption in the Juneelection of CRNC Chairman. This is an organization that needs reform, and Iintend to fight for it! This December, I am proposing an amendment to the CRNCConstitution to allow parties to file for independent arbitration after adisputed election. The College Republicans in this country deserve to havetheir voices heard, and I plan on doing everything I can to make sure thatthose voices do not fall on deaf ears. We need to clean up the CRNC electoralprocess! For all of these reasons, I am running for Chairman of the Michigan Federationof College Republicans. I am asking for your endorsement and your vote at theconvention in the spring. I look forward to working with you in 2006!Sincerely,Dan CarlsonChairmanMichigan Federation of College Republicans

Carlson on The Record

November 14, 2005 at 7:33 pm (Uncategorized)

I know I am a bit behind here, but recently I recieved a Butler for Senate email and Dan Carlson was on his endorsement list. As you well know Butler does not support MCRI and Carlson does. But that in itself is not odd. The fact that Carlson has been a leading MCRI candidate is odd.

FACTS:

In March their was a pro MCRI event in Lansing. Carlson was on the commercials that the organization had put out talking about how evil affirmative action is.

On May 5th Carlson brought the MCRI mastermind Ward Connerly from California to Kalamazoo College to give a lecture. He sent out press releases praising him and his work.

On May 10th Carlson told the Michigan Daily that Carlson said “we have worked extensively with MCRI to get support by speaking to other colleges and gathering signatures for the petition.”

In January of 2005 Carlson was already working directly or indirectly for the organization as the “student coordinator.

There was a meeting earlier this year in which Carlson & Co proposed that the MFCR vote a resolution in favor of MCRI.

Now he supports a man for Senate that is against MCRI, Keith Butler.

I guess the question in my mind is did Carlson just do this for a job, or does he not care about the issue as much as we think?

Hoogendyk & Drolet Endorse Zandstra

November 14, 2005 at 7:17 pm (Uncategorized)

Representative Hoogendyk & Drolet

“I have been following this race very closely and am convinced that Jerry Zandstra is the best candidate to debate our conservative principles against Debbie Stabenow,” said Representative Jack Hoogendyk. “I have been talking to other legislators and I am confident that additional support is on the way.”

“Jerry Zandstra is the only candidate who is willing to stand up and support the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative and I am proud to endorse him,” said Representative Leon Drolet. “I am confident that Republicans across the state who support the right of every citizen to be treated equally by their own government will flock to the Zandstra campaign.”

YAF Officer Supports Bouchard

November 14, 2005 at 1:54 am (Uncategorized)

Michigan State University Young Americans for Freedom Vice Chairman Jeff Wiggins has announced that he is supporting Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard for US Senate. That in itself is not the issue; but being an officer in an organization that prides itself on protesting everything liberal, and even Republicans when the situation warrants while supporting a candidate for US Senate that is arguably the most moderate choice.

In 2001 Bouchard made known that he did not support CCW. And recently his campaign announced that they do not support the Civil Rights Initiative despite Bouchards working through the same firm that MCRI uses.

Wiggins told me that, “I endorse him mainly because of his background in law enforcement.”

ME: “Do you see a conflict with being an officer in an organization that is right of the GOP and supporting a Republican for Senate that is arguably the most moderate of the three?”

Wiggins: “Some may think that would be hypocritical but It all depends on what the most important issues are to me….I don’t agree w/ his stance on MCRI but I also believe his backround with family communities and homeland security are the superior of the 3…I would rather have a cop in office than a minister.”

One thing is for sure, political alignment often times works itself into ideological organizations.

The Case Against Carlson

November 11, 2005 at 6:47 am (Uncategorized)

The College Republicans will have it’s annual election within the next four months. Some members of the board should remain on for another year and/or be elevated to a greater position, and some should be ridden of.
When Dan Carlson usurped power this summer shortly before the National Convention in a cou de etat that went to the highest levels of Michigan politics, the MFCR has been on a steady decline ever since. A few meetings is all that the federation can claim as it’s activities. Sure individual CRs have went to Republican events, but that really has nothing to do with the organization and many would go anyway even if the CRs didnt exist; including myself.
There were a ton of CRs on Mackinaw Island, but it had little or nothing to do with the organization, and even less to do with it’s leadership.
The MFCR retreat at our National Committeemans cabin fell through the floor. Maybe it was just an ‘incentive” at the time; but now that his position is secured by now Carlson is not going to go to the trouble of organizing such a retreat. The event was just a tool.
My recent confirmation of Carlsons plans to run for the top post in the federation has prompted this article. The most common reason that political organizations die is because of inactivity. At our current rate, after the 2006 election their may be no more MFCR.
There are still several clubs in the state that refuse to do business with Carlson; and more are lukewarm towards his unelected state. We need unity for the ‘06 elections, not someone that is polarizing.
I can confirm that their are already three or four good candidates for chair, any among who I would be happy to vote for. I am not supporitng anyone in the race, but will gladly vote for who has the best chances of turning this organization around. Someone who realizes that usurping is not a virtue. Someone that is not Dan Carlson.
I futher feel that Laina Shuey and Justin Roebuck should be promoted in the organization. Shuey has been very active in the organization, and her name is more recognized than the Chair of the organization. Her newsletter is great and she is always working on something. I think that she would make an excellent chair.
I would also like to see Justine Roebuck continue to play a role in the organization. Through the tumultous times he remained civilized and dignified. Although I would recommend that he serve in an administrative position rather than as Treasurer.
Ally Jacobs and Jon Kowalski should get the heeve ho. Neither have been very active. The website can be best described as inferior to it’s original state with an extra feature or two.

Michgian Federation of Teenage Republicans Chairman, Tyler Whitneys letter to the Lansing State Journal.

*I think Whitneys letter bumped mine off the list to publish

Alito gets it
Thank God President Bush listened to his political base and nominated a conservative judge to the Supreme Court. Instead of appeasing his loyal following, President Bush decided to defend the American Constitution and uphold traditional values.
No Congress would have approved of the institutionalized racism known as affirmative action or the massive genocide of the unborn. The only method of enacting the leftist agenda is through judicial tyranny.
As expected, liberals have already started attacking Judge Samuel Alito’s superb temperament and qualifications. Howard Dean and Planned Parenthood don’t want congressional votes on leftist issues; they want an elite gang of justices imposing their ideology on the American people.
Fortunately, Alito believes in something that leftists hate: the Constitution.
