Nuncio Confronts Mayoral Candidates

September 28, 2005 at 4:09 am (Uncategorized)

Tonight Zack Nuncio and I went to the Lansing Mayoral debate at Lansing Community College.

Nuncio asked Senator Bernero “Where do you stand on gun rights?” Bernero responded that he voted against the new gun bill because it wasn’t as pro gun as the law currently in place. Nuncio later told me that that was a load of bullshit and that Bernero is clearly anti gun. An irritated Nuncio told Bernero that he was no better than Benavides and he abruptly walked away.

On the way out the door he ran into incumbent Mayor Benavides and repeated to him the same question. Benavides said that he supported the police having the best firearms and that people should be able to use firearms to “hunt and fish.” After I walked up behind Nuncio and Benavides saw my “Republican National Convention; Salute to Mike Rogers” shirt the conversation was ended.

Mackinac Conference Part 2

September 27, 2005 at 8:30 am (Uncategorized)

There was a CR meeting on the island this past weekend. Apparently Derek Moss (some outreach) and Lyz Moore, Jewish outreach are planning on bringing Christie Todd Whitman to the state to speak to students. While they are having this event (of which I hope no one attends) their will be a conservative coming to Kalamazoo; Congressman Tom Tancredo.

Of all the parties this weekend it was almost unanimous that Congressman Joe Schwarz threw the best one, even though he was noticeably absent

State party and the DeVos campaign have some excellent staff. Michael Jeffries with the DeVos campaign and Jefrey Walls with state party. Both of which started within the last two weeks.

I spent most of my weekend talking to Legislators and candidates, so I didn’t do much of the CR thing. I did however notice Ryan Thompson tailing Justin Roebuck for much of the conference. Who knows where he will be in the CRs come next year.

A Terri Land staff person told me that Jon Yob stuffed multiple dollars into the John McCain jug. Although Im not complaining, as I did the same thing for Tom Tancredo.

Notes from the Mackinac Conference

September 26, 2005 at 1:12 am (Uncategorized)

To college students the Mackinac Conference means free booze. With Republicans controlling both Houses of the Legislature, and holding a majority of Michigans U.S House seats there is alot to celebrate.

U.S Senate Race-
Two Protestant Ministers, Keith Butler and Jerry Zandstra are squaring off against each other. The establishment is clearly behind Butler. I even over heard an Attorney General Mike Cox staffer or volunteer say that they were not allowed to give t-shirts to Zandstra supporters. (Whether this comes from the top or not is unclear.)

While top heavy endorsements seem impressive, our National Committeewoman Holly Hughes proved that it didn’t mean a thing when she beat incumbent Sharon Wise who held all of the big name endorsements when she ran for reelection as National Committeewoman.

An article in MIRS News over the weekend showed that after a brief description of each candidate was read the Republican voters that they would vote for Zandstra over Butler 30 to 22.

Cons of Both Candidates:
Zandstra supports immigration and Butler supports affirmative action.

part 2 coming soon

Right now the current climate of the MFCR is uncertainty. With the relative time of calm after the convention people are starting to jockey for state chair. Most people think Dan Carlson will run again (as do I). There are also a handful of others eyeing up the position.

With the current climate I think that almost anyone could pose a threat to Carlson. Going along with him should not be mistaken for support. Most are not willing to fight when they cannot win. His support can be best described as a mile wide and an inch thick.

Unless state party intervenes again, it appears as if though Carlson is rapidly approaching the lame duck state.

The MFCR Jew Outreach that Carlson appointed, Lyz Moore of Detroit Mercy has made several disparaging remarks about Christianity. Including, but not limited to sending emails from the following email address PontusPilate@ChristIsMyBitch.com with offensive zionist messages in them. One of them even accused Jesus of being a fraud.

It has become very apparent Moore and Nicola Hawatmeh (MFCR Political Director, Wayne State) are using their appointed positions as stepping stones to the Charimanship.

Another person to watch in the race for MFCR Chair is Luke Pelican who was appointed as an officer on the state board, and also took over the top spot as YAF Chair.

ON JOHN ROBERTS

Many are questioning John Roberts committment to conservatism, however I do not. People on the right fringe (or so they like to think of themselves) all but sold the house that President Bush would nominate Alberto Gonzales… he did not.

Roberts’ luke warm answers that he is giving to the Senate are so that he can get in their and take care of business. I have complete confidence in him.

Granholm Protest

September 16, 2005 at 5:36 am (Uncategorized)

This protest was great. Not many people but still got the point across. I contacted some prolife student groups but it seems they don’t protest. If ice cream socials helped stop abortion we would be on a fast track, but unfortunately they do not.

Outside of directly influencing legislation sidewalk counseling is the second most effective way to combat abortion.

When Governess Granholm arrived at the fundraiser she saw us and she snuck in the side door. I had a quote picked out from the Cathechism of the Catholic Church but it would have been impossible to get to her before she snuck into the building.

Here is a picture on the smash left wing scum blog…
